McIntyre was born to a Scotch-Thai father and a Malaysian
mother in Bangkok. He was the ninth of ten children but
lost an older and younger brother and became the youngest
child. Even while he was young he tried to help the
family save and earn money as they were poor. Fans of
Bird will know that he has always talked about his father
as a hero and that he loves his mother most. After he
graduated in banking, he worked in a bank (Thai Farmers'
Bank) for a while before becoming a model. His break came
when he won the Siam-Kollakorn singing contest which
since has launched many other stars such as Rudklao
Amratisha. He joined Grammy Co. where he met Rewat
Budhinan, the man behind his success. P'Teur as he is
called, wrote Bird many songs, like those in the
Boomerang album which catapulted him to fame. Bird went
on to release many successful albums especially Bird
Chilli (Prig-Kee-Noo) which brought him to international
attention. Initially he also acted in many lakorns, of
which the most well-known was Koo-Gam (Sunset at
Chaophraya). He won a Best Actor award for his role as
Kobori, the Japanese navy captain. After a break of
nearly ten years, he returned to the big screen to film
Sunset at Chaophraya, the movie. It was an instant
success, winning acclaim not only in Thailand, but in
Japan and other Asian countries. Since then, he has
appeared in two subsequent lakorns, Nitramit with the
former Miss Thailand, writer and army spokesperson,
Areeya Chumsai (Sirisopha) and Kwarm Song Jum Mai Hua Jai
